Although as increasingly:

a) The Republic is no longer the economic backwater nor the theocracy it
once was

b) The EU makes the border meaningless in practical terms

there is a tendency towards not actually caring that much as long as
average punters can get on with life, except when symbolically important
(March 17th and July, mostly).

Headcases excepted.
