<many /> noted cool server names:
Rats! A quick scan of my local TNSNAMES file reveals only boooooring
server names here. ;-(
I knew the server guy for the international architect's site ... they
used local sports hero names: "Hakeem", "Barkley", ...
[I won't mention the problems the US Navy is currently running into
regarding their poor choice of server name! Or the unfortunate name
of the poor fellow in charge of putting a spin on the issue!]
However, I still think there is room for additional creative abuse,
especially in a reporting sense:
* 'The_Mice_R' ... running at 80% capacity.
* 'The_Diaper' is 96% full. (We'll have to clean that out!)
* 'The_Plague' is replicating nicely to our branch offices!
* Your app is running on 'Empty' / 'Full' / 'Fumes' / 'Kerosene'.
* Can you ping 'Pong'? Can you hit 'The_Spot'?
* We've lost 'Money' / 'Time' / 'Resources' / 'Imagination' /
'Our_Lunch' / 'Our_Lunch_Money'.
* I can see 'For_Miles_And_Miles'. (I kinda like that one. Much
better than 'England', 'France', and ... whatever that last one
was.) [Oh yeah? I can see 'Thru_Walls'!]
* Can you bounce 'The_Ball' / 'The_Check' / 'The_Hooligan'?
* What's 'It' called? ("Yes.")
Fun!
RonL.
(Hey, at least I didn't say " 'Your_Shorts' are estimated to be
down for another 3 hours." ... or "We expect 'His_Lunch' to come
back up in an hour.".)
