That's because the Omega succeeded the Carlton (and the Senator).  Vauxhall 
have discontinued the Omega in favour of a larger Vectra to occupy the 
markets the older Vectra (and the Cavalier before it) and the Omega / 
Carlton / Senator used to inhabit.

Most traffic cops in the UK are a bit pissed off about that because of the 
fact that most police forces in the UK bought beefed-up police-special 
Omegas from Vauxhall, and wanted to keep buying them.  They go like shit off 
a hot shovel - http://www.thamesvalley.police.uk/about/transport2.htm shows 
the usual spec.  Some forces have started using Volvo T5 S70 and V70s, and 
Škoda Octavias for their motorway chase and patrol vehicles, but the Omega 
is much beloved amongst the forces :)
