a few Cream tunes at suitable volume to solve the problem.]

You've got the answer several times by now.  Just piping in to note that

this genre is generally known as "bubblegum rock".  [1] 

A quick search on Amazon shows a number of compilation discs covering
the 
'usual suspects', folks like the 1910 Fruitgum Company, Ohio Express, 
Archies, Lemon Pipers, etc.
