Agreed. If the licensing costs do become an issue, that can be resolved
later on, but as it is the quickest move we can make now to reduce costs
is losing Oracle, and the quickest way to do that is to rewrite the CMS
we have. Later on if our CMS is still costing too much to run, then we
should think about rewriting the whole thing.

+1000. Definitely, we don't want to disadvantage members, unless the
burden of forwarding / redirecting becomes huge (and hopefully with a
move the bandwidth won't be as much of an issue either).

I'd suspect most of our articles would be okay anyway, since we
(content) make sure tags are closed, et cetera.

I say move over to xhtml 1.0 / css, and then a team of volunteers can
look through our articles for ones that don't validate and shoot a
notice to the content team. It certainly shouldn't take a lot of
updating... lowercase some tags here.. add a slash there. Hell, if
no-one else on content wants to do it, then I'd be happy to fix the
articles up myself as they were brought to my attention.
