Comments up to the content freeze were part of the db dump and  
therefore will be migrated.

Any new content is very unlikely to be. So approving/editing already  
existing articles will be fine as the edits can be reapplied to the  
new data (and content people, I'd suggest that if you're editing the  
old copy, you'd probably be wise to do a parallel edit to the new  
copy). But newly added comments will be a PITA to migrate.
