Is Internet Explorer converting the entities in hidden fields when it
submits the preview page back for finalization??!  I am 95% certain without
even looking at the code that nothing in the back end converts from entities
to the original character, so it must be the browser!  Yuck yuck.  I added
a:

comment to the article and it worked out like I'd've expected.
