I've added a Hosts category <http://dir.evolt.org/resources/hosts/> with
the following category description:

A list of hosts that have been used by evolt members. Please only post to
this category if you have had a positive personal experience with the
host. If you have had serious problems with any of the hosts listed here,
please email Simon Coggins at ppxsjc1 at unix.ccc.nottingham.ac.uk with
details. Self promotion is not permitted in this category.

I think it will be an interesting experiment to see how this works, but I
agree that in the long term a more robust ratings system would be
required. This definitely falls within the scope of evolt, but whether
this belongs within d.e.o. really depends on how ambitious we are planning
to be.

It would be relatively straight-forward to add a 'comment on this link'
functionality to the whole of d.e.o., which could be used in the hosting
category to provide feedback, and seems like quite a nice general feature
to have.

Much more than that however, and I think it starts to grow beyond what
d.e.o. was designed for. I mean you could have a whole site dedicated to
peer reviews of hosting companies. I'm not sure that the directory would
be the best place for what could become a large and complex system in its
own right.

Make sense?

Simon
