Ooops, not my territory. I'm afraid I haven't quite been following those
threads :(
Mea culpa.

Oh gosh. A big pile of data. I've been trying to figure out how many use NS
4.xx but have been unsuccessful. Someone wanna help me out?

It depends. If there's a compelling majority that will benefit from
something, and cause minor problems for the remaining few, and if that
benefit is significant, then it may be worth the trade-off. For example,
having proper leading in body text does indeed improve readability.
Netscape 4.xx has problems with child classes where the parent also has a
line-height defined. It also pukes on printing. (Or am I missing other
bugs?). But if only, say, 4-5% of our users use Netscape 4.xx, it may be
worth it for the greater good i.e., the other 95%.

Also, the site is frequented by web developers, who are more likely to have
a recent standards-compliant browser, IMHO. But the stats tell the story.
Now if only I could figure out what it said :P

>that's why i suggest we just dump the box styling... all of that goes
>away...

Point.
