these are all ideas i have for improvements to the current evolt.org 
cms.  i've mentioned them in the past under the label of v3.0 features.

let me just say that i hate index pages at the beginning.  i want to see 
content on the first page.

agreed, however the current architecture does not support it.

provided you want to take it to that level of implementation.  i don't see 
that as a necessary element.  in fact, i see priv3+ being the only users 
capable of assigning additional authors to an article.
