Ummmm.  I take it that you for some reason don't want to do the work in an 
image editing program.

Do you mean "crop" or "resize?"

I can't imagine any software which could crop on its own... how would it 
know what was the "valuable" part of the image? If you mean resize, I'd 
suggest that you have to take a trip through _some_ sort of image editor 
system to get the size to the way you want it.

The most straightforward way is to just go ahead and work on each image... 
I suspect you have some huge library which you want to show thumbnails 
of?  Please give the list more information on what you are starting with, 
and what your aims are.
