oh, old topic, but i'll quickly offer up my point again...

anybody with a pulse (and a few i've met without) can join
the HTML Writers' Guild... being a member implies no level
of expertise, quality, or anything really, other than a
self-aggrandizing need to add another image to your home
page and pretend to be something you may not be in an
organization that does nothing and is not recognized by any
client or employer i've ever met...
