didja try and save it out in any other format?  try outputting in 24-bit
BMP, then try using it in Photoshop ... 

my DVD software prevents me from taking screen captures from any DVD encoded
with Macrovision (the DVD - and VHS incidentally - anti-piracy system).  I
won't go into the details of how Macrovision works - it's well off-topic for
this list - but have a nosey at http://www.macrovision.com/vcp.html if
you're interested.

I get around that by using Zone Selector, an applet which lets me select
Regions and turn Macrovision on or off - since I route my DVD output through
a VCR, this is essential for me!
