actually, it *is* a verb as well... according to my 1997
Webster's Universal College Dictionary...
- v.t.
#5. to drive or press closely or firmly into something
#6. to fill up; congest
#7. to collide with
#8. to have an impact or effect on; influence
- v.i.
#9. to make contact forcefully
#10. to have an impact

granted, it is often over-used, or even falls into the role
of a malapropism when folks don't know what they're saying
but do know buzzwords, but it is still a verb... there are
better ways to say most things that use 'impact' as a
verb...

btw, my pet-peeve:

	functionality

if anyone can find that in a dictionary, let me know... at
my last job *everyone* used it, but the best i could come up
with as an alternative was 'function' or 'functional
capability' along with some other variations...
