Okay, here is a language peeve for you.  "Negative" and "Positive."

I can't stand it when people use "negative" to mean bad and "positive" to 
mean good.

"The rumor of layoffs had a negative effect on our employee moral."  Really?

Ask anyone going through cancer treatment whether they'd rather have a 
positive or a negative result on the next test, and why...
