not reading other peoples' replies just yet (although i'll see good
reasons in theirs i'll wish i had stolen) to make sure mine is
untainted...
#3....
the log-in info floats with the associated links (options, log out)... i
think it's very important that those elements stay together and the
user can always look to the edge of the screen, regardless of
resizing, to see all those options... so that knocks out #1...
#2 has too much white across the top of the screen... not a bad
thing, and it helps focus the user on the right side of the screen,
but #3 does the opposite, it focuses the user back to the identity,
which i think is more important from a branding perspective (we've
already handled usability, after all).... also, the blue adds a nice
weight to the top of the page without being so heavy that it
overpowers (it's nice and slender)... #3 also makes the lightning
bolt in the logo stand out more... i only noticed it in #3...
