[thelist] New Browser Bug

Well, here's another bug. These browsers are pretty infested. Don't you
think Bill Gates, Paul Allen, Mark Andreesen, et al should personally
reimburse us from their ill-gotten gains for wasting our time? It's like
buying a car and, by the way, the shocks don't work between 65 and 70- mph.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....

When I use the <A NAME="foo"> tag for an anchor, I can not link directly to
it (in IE4.7x and IE5) if the extension is .SHTML. In IE, I get the error
page. In NS4.7x, It takes me to the bottom of the page. In NS6, it takes me
right where I want to go.

When I save a copy of the destination page with the HTML tag, both browsers
go right there.

Here is some of the markup:

Page doing the linking:
<A HREF="sg_elements.html#housing">Housing Element</A><P>  <! This works>

<FONT COLOR="#0000ff"><P>Issues and Opportunities</P>
<UL TYPE="DISC">
<LI><P><A HREF="sg_elements.shtml#housing">Housing Element</A></P></LI> <!
This does not work>
</FONT>

Destination page:
<A NAME="housing">Housing element</A><P>
<! Testing for other quirks....>
<H2><A NAME="housing">Housing element</A></H2>

Sigh.
Here are places to submit bug reports. If this problem is not my own doing,
I will submit this, and the Hx margin problem.
