my favorites so far:
>> Mixing it up helps ...
>> Mixing it up helps ...
>> Mixing it up helps ...
>> i look at magazines
>> set things on fire and throw them out the window
for ideas... the pattern of burning passers-by can often be
inspiring...
my personal addition, at the risk of sounding like a rebel:
GO ON VACATION, GIRL! :) Suggestions? I prefer it sunny with rum. Cheap
all-inclusives are all over the place. And then again some like it cold and
snowy. Weirdos. Maybe you feel like a recluse. Go to a big city (beware:
stay UNwired - it can be difficult) Wander round with nothing to do but look
for like.. i dunno.. green silk scarves.... pick something bizarre... or
check out museums.. (sculpture? paintings? what's that? those aren't
pixels.. they're BRUSHSTROKES!;) No "source code" here.. You can't even
take a picture. (For me, this allows one to really relax and just take it
all in as if it were like.. a real life.. a strange world with an incredibly
complex nature and a history way longer than 5 or 10 piddly years... *lots*
of inspiration out there).
I dunno. but nothing makes you appreciate that little machine you call work
more than running away from it for a few days - Acknowledge the rest of the
world that your work is merely a part of. Cell phones get turned off at the
airport - you have to do this on take-off anyway.. Ya just don't turn it
back on. 'cause they will call. Not to worry though - the rest of the world
can wait. Really. Afterall, they have voicemail. If you can, forward your
phone/email service to someone who cares - or just out and out lie - leave a
message that says you had urgent issues to tend to - you'll be back in a few
days. :) So what if your idea of urgent is testing out a new jetski before
some kind of Consumer Reporter reviews it - That would taint your view
forever! I mean this is life changing stuff here. Miscellaneous wireless
devices plague you? Lock 'em in your desk. "Back at the office-emergencies"?
Please. Emergencies are for reality.. This is vacation.
You get back.. and truly... that 17" block sitting on your desk never
looked so appealing.
