[thelist] VBScript vs. JavaScript

Thanks for the advice thus far. I should have mentioned server-side.

Honestly, the way it was presented to me was from the standpoint of "you
should use VBScript because we use VB in-house." I can scrape by with VBS
right now and look forward to learning more.

In essence, what you are saying is that the only way to completely
disassociate yourself from JavaScript (shudder) is to make everything
server-side. And if that wasn't a big deal (ack!), then the two offer very
similar functionality.

I suppose it turns out it's a client-side/server-side discussion now.

Thanks for clearing my head there -- I think I was caught up in the shock of
"no JavaScript?!?!"

for ASP? server-side, you mean, right?

if it were client side, i'd say no way... if anything try moving from
JavaScript to ECMAScript, although that's a whole other
discussion...

as for using it in your ASP pages, i use VBScript because it's
easier to draw on the VB experience in-house, and it's easier for
me to code different languages for server-side and client-side...
