[thelist] old wired splash, how ?

I want to have a small image as a splash of my page, something
similar to the old Wired splash. This image
must occupy most of the screen. The gif is small (100x100 or so)
and i want it to grow proportionally in size with the browser
window. How do I do this ?

If i am not wrong, this is done by putting the image as a background
of a table, but I always end up with a repeating image.

Can anyone help ? :) If someone knows how to do this with CSS and/or
layers or some funky way, please let me know, since thats betters, so
that I can learn.
