as long as the MIME type on the server says it's an HTML file, you 
can have any extension be an HTML file... alternatively, you can 
have a .html file that has an incorrect MIME type associated with 
it, and gets treated as text...

i'ev seen poorly administered IIS boxes show the HTML source to 
NN users because no MIME type is configured (or correctly 
configured) for .asp... IE, of course, knows it's HTML and renders 
it...
