I'm currently a student at Raymond Pirouz's online web communication design
school, R35 Edu (http://www.r35.com/edu). It is a terrific curriculum, and
an even better environment/community. While most of us are capable of
reading a tutorial and figuring out how to solve a particular problem when
we encounter that problem, I'm finding that the knowledge and experience I'm
gaining through school to be invaluable. My work is actually improving!

There are other schools available, I can't really comment though since I've
had no experience with them. If you want, I'd be happy to tell you more
about R35 off list.

...I also have absolutely NO desire to re-hash the argument of whether or
not a (web)design education is of worth or not.

<tip type="flash">
Cool, you can embed variable values in flash by including them in the
embed/object tags.

...src="movie.swf?var=myVar"...

Then, you can use that variable to do all kinds of stuff in your movie.

In AS reference it as level0.var

I'm currently using this in a Flash nav interface to control how the movie
looks depending on which HTML page in the site a user is viewing. Those of
you who are more script-minded that I will undoubtedly find more powerful
uses.
