oddly, when i use the <% response.redirect %> directive in ASP, 
some users get the same thing... the server is actually sending out 
a 300 message, telling the browser to go to the new location... but 
instead, it shows the link to where it should go, instead of moving 
you there...

in our case, IE wasn't doing it if it were set up for HTTP 1.0, so we 
had to switch any problematic IE installs to use HTTP 1.1... of 
course, ASP's new 'transfer' directive eliminates that problem...
