[thelist] AOL and IE

I don't know about every version, but I've had ie 5.0 and AOL 5.0 living on
the same machine.  I did not, however, try to upgrade the ie to 5.5 and see
if the AOL engine was updated as well.  It's my understanding (and I could
be way off) that AOL uses whichever ie engine is installed on the machine,
keeping in mind that AOL will install the engine from the CD it came on if
it's newer than what's already on the machine.  I would think you'd run into
the same problems everybody else faces if you tried to have different
versions of the ie engine and AOL (underlying ie engine) running.  See
theList archives for recounts of the conversations we've hed over the last
few weeks.
