Always thought of this, but never actually tried it:

If you're using CF, you could have CFSCHEDULE run CFPOP to check a mailbox,
and do various things based on the subject/contents of the email.

Of course, you'd want to be checking if it was coming from a certain
address, and you keep the whole process fairly hidden, and perhaps
encrypted.

Someone with more CF experience can tell you if all of this is actually
possible...
