I think the point made by the original post was a good one. I've heard
other younger tech workers make the same complaint.
I'd encourage those who are part of networking groups to think about those
of us who are different from the mainstream. In my case, I'm a single
parent, so I may need to bring my young daughter along with me to
meetings. So I'm also more likely to favor a pub/restaurant over a bar as
a meeting place.
Of course, I come from the assumption that networking with a diverse group
(diversity of ages/genders/races/cultures/skills/abilities) is a Good Thing.
