+1 on "Mastering Regular Expressions", and not just for gurus I found it to be the best mix of text and reference of any O'Reilly book I've read or used. It's very readable in terms of just sitting down (or standing up) and going through the text, on the other hand it is good for looking up that one thing you need to use now but haven't read up to yet.
