<SPAN> tags are a real pain in the rear end when u have to deal with
netscape.  netscape is very fussy about spans and i have found on numerous
occassions that it will not pick up the style in a span.  If you can style a
more major type of tag ( <td>, <p>, <b>, etc.) you will have much better
results in getting your style sheet to work cross browser...

just an observation
