[thelist] domain: how to purchase from current holder

There is a domain I'm interested in.  I found that it had been 
registered for over a year, but had never been used.  So I contacted 
the owner who said he would be willing to sell it.

I've never done this before.

Assuming we are able to agree on a fair amount for the domain, how do 
I assure he gets the money and I get the domain?
