	That's fine -- I don't really care for <company-x>-bashing threads,
anyway -- they don't seem very productive or enlightened. I do believe that
Microsoft wants to make as much money as it can and gain as much influence
as it can. And sometimes it uses hardball tactics. But, no, I don't believe
in conspiracy theories, or that Microsoft wants to control the world, sorry.

	So you think the average user knows what a gif image is, what a jpeg image
is, and cares anything about the difference? Sorry, I don't think so. No
more than most users understand what Flash is, what a .cfm or .asp page is,
or much of what else makes up the underlying construction of a web page and
its contents. Most people don't understand much of what goes on underneath
the hood of their cars, either. That doesn't make them stupid, however,
which is how you described Microsoft's target market -- again, not a very
productive or enlightened approach to discussion.
