Ross,

I'd have to spend a few hours playing with the script to make it work.  If
it turns out not possible, you may consider a simple redirect after the d/l
begins to another page.  It doesn't seem like common practice to close the
browser window after a download starts.  If this is a Internet application
(as opposed to an intranet) then some people may not expect or want the
originating window to close, in case the d/l fails or they have questions
pertaining to the d/l after it begins.  Others may feel like you are
planting a Trojan horse or something, especially if 2 hours later they are
surprised by a popup window saying that the d/l was done when they thought
it never happened.
