[thelist] setting up a faux-server environment

Is it possible to set up a directory on my Mac to mimic a server 
environment?  Specifically, I'm attempting to learn PHP & SSI and would like 
to be able to troubleshoot locally.  I'm pretty sure on PC's there's a way 
to do it; actually I could use both for Mac & PC.
