<tip type="oracle"> If you're exporting a database from oracle and using the 'exp' command to do it, oracle will prompt you for a array buffer fetch size. If you have any sort of decent machine(anything above a pII with SCSI) set the buffer size to something greater than the default of 4096. If you have enough machine to do it, try doubling or tripling that value. I typically set it to 8192 and see about a 40% increase in speed at which it exports my database. </tip> .djc.
