Oh, they happily send out those bills... and it would be way too much to ask that they send out consolidated invoices. There's nothing like 40 invoices to one of your pen names to freak out your private mailbox company.

<tip type="pen names and domain contacts">
If you have a domain registered to a pen name with a US address, you are supposed to put that pen name on file with the post office. As of August 1, 2001, the US post office claims they won't deliver mail to any name not listed in their records for a given address. [yeah, right.]

Of course, their "official" form for such things doesn't accomidate 20 pen names. If you have more than a couple of alternate mailing names, just drop off a letter with the Post Office or your Private Mail Box company. Include all your alternate names, fake admin job titles, and domain names just to be on the safe side. They usually hate it, but they have to accept it.

Yes, NetSol has admitted to hoarding expired names in hopes of operating their own resale market. My guess is they ignore "low value" names when they expire, but jump on the ones people have paid to snap up. By the way, if you renew an expired domain it is renewed from the date you paid not the date it expired. If domains expired in a timely manner, we wouldn't need their nifty domain watch service.

Best yet, NetSol continues to sell my name as the owner of some domains I let expire over two years ago. These aren't vacant names - other people own them now. Go figure.

Unlike NetSol, other nic companies aren't so lax (or is that greedy?). I had a set of names in .st expiring soon. I missed the part on the bill about paying BEFORE July 27th. Those domains were promptly shut down this morning, but I was allowed to renew them online. They were back up within a few hours after payment.

I vastly prefer the service I get from Sao Tome (.st) and Adams Names (.ms & .tc) over NetSol or any of my .com.net.org registrars. If I hadn't snagged an Armenian name (.am) for life I probably would have let that one expire.
