[thelist] Electronic contracts

I've read that electronic contracts are legally binding.
I'd like to hear what methods people use for remote web design
contract signing.

For instance,
Is responding to an email, agreeing with the contract if so stated?
As in "by replying to this email you are agreeing with ..."

Do people use a web interface with forms? If so, I'd appreciate some detail.

Also, do people use an electronic method even if the client is in the
same town?

Another contract question:
How much should I expect to pay for a basic web design contract?
Writing one myself seems analogous to a lawyer writing code ;>
Please excuse this question if it falls in that illegal category of
stating prices.

Thanks in advance!
