actually, it *does* support that.  it's just very limited in how it does it.

now, you could get around the difficulty of accessing the anchors by number
if you gave each <a> tag a name attribute and accessing it like that.

<a name="blah" href="blah.html" target="_self">blah</a>

and, in your script:

document.links['blah'].href = swopURL[image];
document.links['blah'].target = swopTarget[image]

i'd also find another variable to use other than "image".
