Bob,
It would be a shame for your church to seek the services of a web design
professional and then not heed that person's professional advice. They would
probably NOT do that with their lawyer or accountant. If it's important to
you at all to use the second design, you should not give up just yet. Make
your case as strong as it can be, and hopefully you will have the
opportunity to present it to a larger group. If you can get the support of
just ONE of those group members before they all meet, and encourage that
person to speak up first, you may be able to turn the "yes" tide in your
favor (much as I hate to suggest that people blindly follow the first
opinion expressed, people OFTEN blindly follow the first opinion expressed).
Eventually, you may have to just say, "You are going to have to trust me,
the alternate design better reflects the look, feel and message we are
trying to portray as an organization, and if you do not feel you can trust
my professional judgment then perhaps I should not be the one to create the
site." Sounds harsh, I suppose, but what is your professional opinion worth?

Just another .02 - I'd better stop now, I'm going broke. LOL
Janet
