[thelist] Definition of what ASP is?

It's more traditionally called a "Web Application", so yes, it can be
considered software. I am a not a consultant (work for a software
development company), however the code that we write becomes the
intellectual property of the company. That being said, if you are a
consultant I see no reason why you cannot claim your own source code
as your own intellectual property (unless, of course, the contract
specifies otherwise).
Most often an ASP application is just ascii text files, so it makes it
sorta hard to obscure your source code, unless you move your
application logic into COM objects.

Subject: [thelist] Definition of what ASP is?

Hi,

Ok....this will sound stupid so please bear with me.
Can an ASP site (backend programming) be called a "software"?
If you develop a site in ASP can you claim you own the code to it and
that the client can't have the right to modify it in the future?

Thanks,
