Want to be able to run HTMLTidy from inside Nedit (one of the best GUI
text editors for *nix).

Preferences -> Default Settings -> Customize Menus -> Shell Commands

Create a new entry, lets call it "HTML Tidy". Set Command Input to
Window, Output to New Window and other options to taste. Under Shell
Command To Execute enter:

tidy -config /path/to/tindyconfig %

Set it up with a handy keyboard accelerator and you're good to go.
