I have had a similar problem before and was able to
get this working by switching from Named Pipes to
TCP/IP. (I still have no idea why Named Pipes used to
work before and then suddenly stopped working one
day.)

However I would not recommend using both Windows NT
and SQL Server authentication as there is a security
hole associated with this dual mode of authentication.
Microsoft issued a patch for the flaw and you can find
more information on this at (watch for URL wrap)
