You should look on the paypal site for:

"Instant Payment Notification allows you to integrate your
PayPal payments with your website's back-end operations, so
you get immediate notification and authentication of the
PayPal payments you receive. "

One of the variables you can specify is:

"item_name" -  Transaction specific Item name as passed by
you, the merchant. Or, if not passed by you, as entered by
your customer.

You need to login to your account and go to sell tab and
look under resources.

All this assumes you are setting up IPN on your server

(don't ask me, I'm still struggling with it too!)
