Hi,
I wonder, why would you want to change to index.shtml?
If you want to start using SSI on the site, you can simply set .htaccess to
allow SSI-parsing in html files can't you?:
Like this:

AddHandler server-parsed .shtml .htm .html

Or does that only work for PHP?
