More truth in this if you're a one-person development team...

Yeah, but 'in the long run' isn't really an effective argument (even if
it is true) - if I'm happy with what I'm getting now, why do I care?

Sure - and that's valid. But the only way to get away from it
is if users upgrade, and no-one's giving them a compelling reason.

That *is* the luxury of working on intranets (which I did for a couple of

But the extra work involved should equal larger fees, yes? If it doesn't,
you need to look at your contract negotiation process.
