TOPIC: 3D Graphics On The Web
3D graphics is emerging onto the Internet as an engaging, interactive media.
Its business applications include product demonstrations, web site design,
interactive ads, data visualization and training. In entertainment,
interactive web 3D is used for games and multi-user 3D worlds. Web 3D may
go well beyond just applications and become the next interface for the
future internet, replacing the 2D graphical interface with a navigational
spatial user interface.
This session will take an independent look at the technologies,
applications, issues and opportunities for Interactive Web 3D, and will
provide guidance and perspective on its future. We will examine web 3D from
the point-of-view of customers, developers, educators and management,
analyzing their perceptions, misconceptions, issues and solutions. Finally,
we will examine the parallels of the emerging Web 3D medium with the
evolution of other new technologies and unique content.

SPEAKER: Mitch Williams

Mitch Williams is President of 3D-Online.com, industry analysts, consultants
and developers of Interactive Web 3D. At SIGGRAPH 2001, he spoke on
"Converting Your 3D Models and Scenes to Interactive Web 3D". Mitch also
instructs all the Web 3D art and engineering courses at UCLA, UC Berkeley,
UC Irvine and UC Santa Cruz-Silicon Valley Extension.
