Just beware of excessive, badly nested <font> tags... unless it's
improved a lot lately.

You could buy Virtual PC for your Mac and run IE on it - it'll be
slowish, but it will work.
For that low level of formatting, you could also train your content
managers -
I've done that for a few sites now, and they tend to only need a bit more
support and tidying up after them when they have relatively complex tables
(where you've got row/colspan cells or nested tables).
