I think that homepage used in the sense Phil described (ie,
freeserve.com/~myAceHomepageAboutCats) is different in kind as well
as in quality. For example:

Greg's home payge http://welcome.to/mytrailerparkpage

'Wedsites' (sic) like this defy the Pro/Am binary opposition, and
exist entirely in their own realm of design. Perhaps 'homepayge'
rather than 'homepage' and 'wedsite' rather than 'website' could be
used to distinguish them?

<tip type="socket functions in php">

Using the socket functions in php [1] is messy. These functions are
classed as experimental, their signatures are still subject to change.

To avoid having to use frames (a good idea) to enclose dynamically
generated content from a sister site where you don't have direct
access to their database, use the fsockopen function [2] from the
network group of functions [3]. The doc's examples, and the first
comment regarding http 1.0 and 1.1 differences, are quite easily
adapted to all sorts of applications.
