I'm trying to help my mother get her Windows Millenium box to
automatically launch a dial-up connection when an application (such
as IE, or specific software) requests it at, say, 5 am.
She has two connections. The correct one is setup as the default
connection. So far so good. The problem is as follows:
1) The application attempts to initiate a connection.
2) It launches the dial-up network connect box.
3) The default connection does not connect automatically,
here what I know:
a) The user name is competed and is correct
b) The password is not entered
c) My mother has on a number of occasion re-entered it correctly
and a connection can be made manually.
d) The check box for 'Save password' is disabled (grayed out).
e) The check box for 'Connect automatically' is disabled.
f) Her 'Dial From' select menu and property edit is disabled.
At this point, having only Win2KPro and Win 98 available to me, I
can't figure out how to get the following:
1) The 'Remember password' to be enabled and accessible.
2) The 'Connect automatically' to be enabled accessible.
It's my assumption that when the two are enabled and checked, that
the application will be able to initiate a connection when necessary.
Suggestions?
Thanks!
(PS: Mom thanks you too.)
