[thelist] Eudora duplicate mail download/filtering

I just spent what seemed like hours deleting about 1500 messages my e-mail
client (Eudora 5.1/Win) insisted on downloading a second (and third in some
cases) time.

Apparently this happened after Eudora crashed right after fetching my mail
but before it had time to filter the messages it had just downloaded.

This hasn't been the first time this happened :-((

Q1. Is there a way to temporarily disable all filtering in Eudora?
       (i.e. without having to write all filters anew afterwards!)

Q2. Is there a way to filter duplicates in Eudora 5.1/Win?
      I seem to remember there was in earlier versions on Mac, but I cannot
find such an option now.

Q3. Is there any tool that would allow me to filter duplicates from my
mailbox in case the answer to #2 is no?

I checked Eudora support, but found nothing there on filtering duplicates.

Any insights greatly appreciated!
