this is the reply I got when I forwarded this to a Mac using friend:

No sorry... mine does the same but it doesn't bother me... Some emails will
just come through in that format... If it bugs him that much he should run a
pure text email client... I'm sure there are plenty (UNIX type ones, etc)

Sorry, but it seems that in this respect MAc is no better than Windows ;-) I
tend to send strongly worded replies to users who send me html mails saying
that I can't read them (even though I can) and can they please resend in
plain text. You could also have a purpose built signature for this telling
them how to do it in the big mail clients.
