More craziness:
I took the 'problem' string and I wrapped it with HTMLEditFormat, a CF
function that escapes < and >. Even _this_ causes the error, which is
insane, since it should be just a simple string.
I then tried outputting only the left most X characters. This worked
until I hit a threshold of 213 characters. Some random character is
causing _all_ of this.
